K-9 Tyson died at the age of six on Sunday, Dec. 4, according to a Facebook post from Boston Police.
Tyson served Boston for five years as a dual-purpose patrol and explosive detection K-9, responsible for many high-priority arrests, recovering weapons and providing protective sweeps.
"Our thoughts go out to his handler at this difficult time, as well as his wife and children, who had come to know Tyson as a protector and a member of their family," BPD said.
